Reading Finnegans Wake

Reading Finnegans Wake is like reading a book in a foreign language that you are still learning. Or like a child listening to an adult conversation. You are able to pick up a tone, maybe an overall theme. You get a word here, a phrase there. But the bigger meaning, the complexity of the conversation evades you. And yet, you are drawn to it, you follow the flow of what the adults are saying, without necessarily chasing the meaning or seeking to participate. You are a fascinated observer.

This is how I feel reading this book.
